Traditional Thai massage has its origins in India and has been utilized in Thailand for over 2,500 years. This system was secretly passed down from family to family and only practiced within the confines of a Buddhist Temple. The Thai word for massage is Nuad Boran, this literally means "ancient massage " and legend says that Traditional Thai Massage was developed by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha (Dr. Shivaga Komparaj). Jivaka was from northern India and is often referred to as the father of medicine and was the personal physician to Siddhartha Gautama who is today known by the universal title of “Buddha”.

Jivaka’s all-embracing knowledge helped to create a healing system that supports the body's own natural healing potential. Traditional Thai Massage treatment applies pressure to lines of energy that flow within the body, these are called Sen lines. Through these “Sen lines” flows the life force (called Qi or Chi in Traditional Chinese Medicine) and when the masseur puts pressure on these lines, the body's natural vitality flows and this stimulates the healing process. These energy lines are the equivalent to the meridian lines used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Obstructions within these lines are considered to be the cause of aches, pains and disease. Traditional Thai Massage helps to "reboot" your system by removing the obstruction within these lines and so helps the healing process.
